| If I had been you, I would have sold my Windows laptop to begin with and gotten an Intel Mac to run both Windows and OS X on at the same time. You could still technically sell both your iBook+PC and get enough money to buy a MacBook, or maybe MacBook Pro; dunno how much everything cost you.
VPC is a fine application for things like Office programs, internet, etc. However, games are going to be fairly lousy on it if you play anything more intensive than Solitare.
The Mac has a very, very low chance of crashing on you/getting corrupted after a couple months, and having an external backup will make you practically invulnerable to anything short of dropping it or having a logic board go bad.
Just as a note, PowerPC Macs such as your iBook do NOT run BootCamp or XP natively. Only newer Intel Macs can do that.
