| This is a guess. Just a guess. I hate when I post, people read, and no one responds so I'll venture a guess. Do you know of any software that is able to do that at all, be it OS X, MS or otherwise? My guess is you can't. The reason that you are able to get instrumentals, acappellas and whatnot from recording studios is that they are recorded onto separate tracks. An mp3 is not (not my knowledge) separated into tracks. If I had to make an analogy, I think it'd be like using layers in photoshop and then converting the layers into a jpeg. Once you've done that, it's one single file and the individual layers are not editable. If you want the instrumental, you'll either have to copies of the masters or buy it. Again, that's just my guess.
