Now I'm getting a tad confused. Are we both talking about my external ADV100E drive? That's the one I want to open & use in my new gear - not the one in my Q960 tower. Chris (who is very computer savvy) opened the ext drive up, looked at the connectors inside, opened up the HP tower at work & showed me the drive in that (the squarish black thing). He said the connections are the same, so I'm guessing I could in theory plug the drive from my external drive in that. I'm now thinking of this
