Mac OSX 10.5 does not seem to open animated gif files included in emails. Searching through previous threads I see that they can be opened and viewed in Safari. This is fine, but the problem is there is nothing to indicate whether a gif file is animated or not and opening every gif file in Safari is time consuming. I am not interested in the animated emoticons just the occasional decent animated gif file that is sent to me.

Is there a way that mail can show animated gifs or is an external program the only option
