Oh the woes of going after someone in IT. Well first thing you need is going to the right source for putting a Mac into a Windows domain, MacWindows.com. The site is filled with IT readers reports and their particle bug fixes. Any IT person that is working with Macs & Windows at the same time should have this site bookmarked.

It sounds like either zerconf or in Apple terms Bojour (the same thing) and a Guest connection is being made (in the same domain). So check all the computers (Mac or PC) on your domain to make sure no stray computer is sharing. Then check out the Apple document "Well Known" TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products (this is good to know what ports the Mac is using.

Plus does the shared computer in the OS X menu one of your domain computers?
