He was probably frustrated with the Xandros Linux that comes preinstalled. There are ways of getting Ubuntu or some other free OS or even Windows (maybe even a certain happy-faced OS
) on it if necessary, but I guess he wasn't up to it. The good thing is that his misery ended up being a good thing for you. And if you ever get sick of it, I know someone that would be willing to take it off your hands (/me raises hand up ever-so-high).
