I set up a bookmark (and a keyboard shortcut) to
http://72.14.207.99/ because I'm using OpenDNS and they redirect Google through their servers. It's not for a bad reason, they're countering Dell and some others who do their own redirection.
But you'll notice when using OpenDNS that using the IP address takes you to Google quicker than simply
http://google.com will. It also takes you to a different Google entry page.
