| Well deleting an application in OS X and reinstalling WILL NOT WORK in OS X. That is only good for Windows and we all know a Mac is not Windows machine.
To "reset" and application just go to the folder /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and find the preference file for the offending application. Move that file out of the folder or delete it. This will reset the application back to square one.
