I purchased my first Macbook Pro and I want to be able to use it wirelessly throughout the house. But I am so clueless how to do this.

I have an iMac version 10.4 that is connected to the internet via my LinkSys router. How on earth do I set it up so that my MB pro can be used wirelessly through the Linksys? I was told that the Airport will just pick it up but I have tried to set up it up through the steps and it won't connect and I don't understand. Maybe someone could walk me through it? I feel this should be more simple then confusing...
