Apple encourages Mac OS X users to use antivirus software

Apple might claim that their Mac OS X operating system is much more secure compared to Windows operating system.

There are few known viruses for the Mac OS X but the company is still recommending the users to install antivirus software on their Apple Macs.

Apple states on one of the pages on their website:

Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult.

They also recommend some applications which can be used. These are: Intego VirusBarrier X5, Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 11 for Macintosh, and McAfee VirusScan for Mac.
