Are you logged in as katharine while you are trying to access katharin's files? The prompt shows katharine, the user details katharin.
drwx------ or drwx------+ is the correct permissions for the Desktop...
Did you try these? My Desktop Is Locked!!!!! Help!!!! Please!!!
