Anyways, a long time ago I read an article--and some posts HERE--which basically told me to chill out on Permissions. Considering with 10.5 it made repairing permissions

, I rather stopped doing it unless the specific problems happen.
Like you, I check my volumes every week . . . back up everything about every other day. Twice I have had volume errors detected which
DiskWarrior fixed. Once, when it did not seem to work, I remembered "Hey, I back this crap up for a reason!" The back-up has smaller errors which were fixed.
In all of this sometimes the permissions say they need fixing. Sometimes they say they do not. So . . . unless it is a specific problem I would not worry about it.
Now, I have not had the problems you have described save with the new
Safari, but I also have Safari-Stand and like to modify it, so it is probably unhappy I am doing that!
