Haven't seen any notes on this yet. But I just saw that Aapl in "After hours" when up $5/share for about 60 seconds. Talk about your market timing. Any one know what's up?

Absolutely! They just keep getting better, faster, clearer, & more functionality. In my case (contract), I locked in $170 from Gazelle to sell it after I get the new phone for $199. $30 for 2 years use seems too good to be true. A no-brainer!

Well I pulled all the sticks in the upper bank as you suggested. I saw these tiny little markings on the circuit board. They were on the right side of the slots directly above the locking mechanism. So I got my magnifier & low and behold there were those markings! So here they are: The upper bank: 4 is J44, 3 is J42, 2 is J14, 1 is J12. The lower bank: 1 is J11, 2 is J13, 3 is J41, & 4 is J43. I hope this layout will help anyone else that has this problem. I rebooted from the Apple Hardware Test disc & it passed!! Thank you again!!

OK, it will probably be awhile before I get back to you. I'll have to follow your advice after I get home from work. But I'll be back.

I don't have an 8 slot G5 here, so I am going to make some guesses. Dimm0 is the topmost slot (marked 4, highest slot on the logic board), OR (guess 2): Dimm0 is the top center slot (marked 1 on the upper bank) That makes Dimm3 as either slot 1, or the second guess, is slot 4 (still in the upper bank of 4) So, how to proceed? Here's what I would do: Do NOT move any RAM sticks, except for upper bank slot 1 & 4. Before you swap any sticks, reseat ALL the sticks, but be sure to place each stick back in the same slots. AND - test your system. I would look at each stick, to make sure that...

Thanks!!! I'll give that a try. I looked for the slot numbers on the circuit board. They are marked 4,3,2,1 then 1,2,3,4. Since the System Profiler's list was: DIMM0/J11, DIMM1/J12, DIMM2/J13, DIMM3/J14, DIMM4/J41, DIMM5/J42, DIMM6/J43, DIMM7/J44. Can I assume that if DIMM0/J11 is #1 on the first section of slots on the circuit board, then DIMM3/J14 should be the slot marked #2 in the second section of slots on the circuit board?

post/0/2048/Dimm3/14 error simply means that Dimm3 in slot J14 is not passing the power on self test (POST) First step when memory is not recognized properly, is to try reseating all of your memory sticks. If you haven't done that recently, it's a good plan - and may fix your issue. I would remove all the memory sticks, then -firmly- reinsert back in the same slots. The only exception is for Dimm3 in slot J14. Swap that one with another that is currently not reporting a problem. I might choose to swap that with Dimm1. Run your AHT again after reseating all the memory sticks. If Dimm1...

My G5ppc. has 8 gigs of ram. But after checking "About this Mac", it shows that I now have only 7 gigs. So I checked with the System Profiler and it shows that Dimm2/13 & Dimm3/J14 are at 512MB each instead of 1GB. Then I ran the Apple Hardware Test disc & it reported " Error detected at startup" and it showed " Error code: post/0/2048/Dimm3/14". What does that code mean and how do I fix it?

Also, if you move your mouse to the top right edge of your screen, you should see that blue "back to non-fullscreen" widget. Afterwards, it should be as you knew it, more or less. (In Yosemite, it'll be different, though.)

The new iTunes update fills my entire 27Ē screen. The red, amber, and green buttons are not visible, and the lower right-hand corner is not available, so I canít reduce the window size. Even more provoking is the Window menu, where the Minimize and MiniPlayer options are disabled. The only options I have is a full-screen iTunes window or no iTunes window at all with the F3 key. How do I get my MiniPlayer back? iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

It's a bit kludgy and requires a bit of setup, but using VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org) along with a little manual editing of playlists should work. 1) Download VideoLAN from the link above and install it 2) Create your playlist in VideoLAN from the movie files you want 3) Follow these instructions next: http://www.windworksdesign.com/documents/lighting/vlc_insert_pause.pdf Still on the lookout for an easier way to do it, but that might get you rolling. The method above will allow you to play videos back-to-back, with a 2+ hour pause between them, requiring you to play...

How can I automate the execution of each MP 4 file used typically in training videos? I use Quick Time to play the files now, but I have to click on each one, then click on the play arrow. When the file has completed playing, I have to close it manually. The files typically look like this Chapter 1 File 1 File 2 File 3 ... File n Chapter 2 File 1

Does everything appear to be in sequence then? I may purchase the MacMini this weekend; I'm going to stop into the store and find out what their charge would be to help with maybe the MacBook, MacBookPro problem. The MacBook Pro to Mac Mini is pretty straightforward migration.

So I picked up a new external HD and it had to be formatted and since I had Disk Utility open,.. I had filled an 8G TD with a bunch of corrupted files that I backup for a hack fix job and thought to my smart self, "heck, I'll just do a quick format with disk utility on this TD since I already have it open". I used Mac OS Ext. (Journaled) Well, yep it erased everything, but now nothing about my computer sees the TD. Not finder, DU, not in terminal. So, I'm thinking it's gone, yea? If anyone has any ideas I'm open to hearing them! ;-) Thanks,

You will not be able to use the TM drive from # 2 to restore on #1. So, yes, TM will be able to restore on its native or original set up Mac. So hold on to the TM from #1 until you have migrated your files and checked the running order of your apps. And don’t trash #2, until you are sure you have everything off of it and that goes for the TM #2 as well. Once you have made the move, checked over and launched your apps for a test run, you then can reformat and begin a fresh copy of TM.

Apparently my first response vanished. I understand what you are saying (I think) regarding the Time Machines but isn't it true I cannot use a time machine to "reinstate" anything on a different computer if that TM wasn't native to begin with? I have to make sure no data is lost and that it is backedup and retrievable in the event there is a catastrophic failure (like when I upgraded the MacBookPro from 10.6.8 to 10.7 and lost all backups from a year; I was able to go back and retrieve one tm backup and didn't look forward on it again. ;-)

Better: I can't accidentally reformat or make changes in the OS of any computer if there is a Time Machine related to it that isn't Native to it. Just in case I need to go backwards.
