Can´t find any graphiccards for my G4, that´s not overkill. I just want to use an old Apple 15"AV as slave monitor under OSX.
Sholdn´t be that hard to find............or?

What kind of card do you have in your G4 right now? You could always upgrade that card to a newer GeForce or Radeon, then use the older card to drive the 15".

That's what I'm planning to do. I'm stuck with the older Rage 128 PCI card in my G4/400 PCI machine, and I plan on getting a newer Radeon PCI card to drive my main monitor, then using the older Rage 128 to drive another monitor -- that is, when this lowly, poor student can sell some crack and make a little money...

You're cheapest choice would be to find someone still selling the 8MB iXMicro card. It's supported under OS X, and can usually be found for around $30-40.

You also could look for ATI Rage PCI cards.

And if you didn't mind spending $150, there's always the ATI Radeon 32MB card. I'm using it for a second monitor and it works great...

That´s probably the easiest thing to do, buy a new card and use the old ATI card for the 15".

You could also look on eBay or a similar site for an older, used ATI PCI card like a Rage Pro or Rage II or something like that -- I believe most of those older cards come with 8MB of VRAM, which would be plenty for running a 15" monitor. The only problem is that OS X has VERY limited support for those older chipsets, and you wouldn't see the benefits of any video acceleration, which I don't think would matter on a secondary monitor anyways.

I'd bet you could pick up one of those for around $20 - $50.

Bought an ATI Radeon and used the factory ATI Rage Pro as the lesser monitor (19" on the Radeon, 17" on the Rage Pro).

Works a treat thank you very much.

Help me out here -- how did you use the AGP ATI Rage in a PCI slot? Do they work that way? I guess I'm assuming you moved the AGP Rage card out of the AGP slot to allow room for the AGP Radeon.

If I'm not mistaken, your G4/466 came with an AGP Rage 128 Pro card... so you bought an AGP Radeon, right? Or wait -- did you buy a PCI Radeon and leave the AGP Rage in the AGP slot?

Bought the PCI Radeon and kept the ATI Rage Pro where it is.

You can determine the main system monitor in the Monitor System preferences (so it doesn't matter which card is where.)
