| JEESUS CHRIST FINALLY A BROWSER THAT DOESN'T MAKE OS X LOOK LIKE A 486 DX Let's face it people. Think typical broadband connection to Internet... On any relatively new PC running Windows, msn.com will open in like 1 second. Hotmail will open in 1 second or less. Macosx.com (and all these forum web sites using vbulletin) open in about 1 second. Everything is instant. On Mac OS X using explorer I've had some pages take up to 15 seconds to load! Opera doesn't help. iCab doesn't help. OmniWeb doesn't help. Maybe they shave off a few seconds, and sometimes explorer is faster, but there is NO BROWSER ON MAC OS X THAT COMES CLOSE TO A PC. Now there is. Chimera. This is insane. OS X finally has some power in web browsing. Jeesus Christ. All Vbulletin forum sites open in 2 - 3 seconds. All of em. MSN.com... 2 or 3 seconds. Hotmail, 2 seconds. Any web page, pretty much 2 - 3 seconds. 4 max. Windows always gets 1 - 2 seconds. Finally OS X is close. No other web browser can TOUCH this shit. chimera.mozdev.org Dowload version 0.1.3 So far the only real bugs are: 1) No plug-in support (flash, quicktime, etc.) 2) Sometimes it's hard to click on a form field 3) Javascript is not PERFECT but already better than omniweb. 4) ummm i haven't tried everything but so far so good ADVANCEMENTS 1) Fast as SHIT 2) Cocoa.. uses sheets for javascript messages and stuff! 3) Has a TAB VIEW for web pages, that is SO COOL!!! 4) Fastest window resize ever 5) Fastest SHIT EVER GET IT NOW!!! |

| heheh Ok seriously This has NOTHING to do with netscape / AOL ok sure, Mozilla uses the netscape rendering engine, that's why graphics and HTML usually render perfectly (as we all know, IE and Netscape are the only browsers that consistently render correctly), and thus mozilla renders correctly. But it's completely done up from scratch NO AOL in the software. No netscape in the software. It's as good as a brand new app to me. I don't care if they had to kill 5000 innocent people and girls and puppies to make it. It's ALL ABOUT THE SOFTWARE BEYAAATCH!! NOTHING touches chimera. Nothing. (for now, since a few main features don't work, I am using it like 99% of the time, then switching to explorer to use download links or watch quicktime, etc.) As for the "skins" thing.. all they have to do is make aqua-like buttons and implement quartz in the graphics layer, which they are working on. Chimera will become just like any standard cocoa app... watch.... |

| solrac, for your own good buddy, let Ed slide. You won't win him over and this 2 page thread will quickly escalate into 5 pages on mass confusion that we've actually gone through several times. I'm not being rude or anything, I'm just giving you a headsup. Proceed with caution. ![]()

obviously you don't understand the progression. Mozilla products don't come from aol/netscape. netscape comes from mozilla. and you can read it right on their site - they develop for the next versions of netscape. i think the last half of your statement speaks for itself. I am sure the other Chimera users are proud to have you on their side. ![]()

ok yeah fine mozilla develops for netscape then, not the other way around... that's even BETTER!!! That makes it CERTAIN that there's no netscape / AOL involved in Chimera. (software-wise) And I don't care if AOL funds them or if frickin' Osama Bin Laden funds them. As long as I get a fast web browser on OS X. So if AOL funded Apple, and Windows got some help from Jesus, would you switch to Windows? HELL NO! Fuck Jesus, give me a crash proof system beeyyaaaaaaaatch!!!! Chimera OWNNNNNNNZZZZZZZZZZZZZ JJjoo000o0o000 ![]() |
