I've heard a couple times that theres a new OS coming out that you can install on a PC or a mac. Has anyone else heard of that?

Most versions of linux should run on the newer intel processor apple computers.

Yellow Dog linux was "optimized" to run on PPC processor apple computers a few years ago,
but i am not sure what terra soft solutions is doing most recently - here is their web address:

Ubuntu and Debian GNU/Linux run wonderfully on PowerPC hardware as they do on x86/x86-64. I haven't tried with Fedora, but it should also run well on the PPC.

FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD also have PowerPC ports.

You can switch the computers off and have the super-eco-friendly "nothing" os...

Well, primary OS should matter less and less since you can run whatever you want to run virtualized on the same time. So if the current system is OS X or Windows or Linux, you can still run OS X (Server), any Windows or Linux (client or server) on the same tie with the main OS... how would that score for user friendliness? So whatever you are used to do it where ever you are...
