    Cinema Displays

I would really like to save up for a flatscreen cinema display. Are they reliable? I have heard stories that they can break down pretty easily. It made me think of getting a flat screen monitor from NEC or some other company. I would much rather have an Apple monitor though

new stuff too new to tell

I have heard some flaky things about the old ones, but you can't get those any more anyway. I haven't heard anything bad about the new ones. (anything that comes with an ADC connector) I have heard that they scratch kind of easily if you knock one over and drag it face down across the corner of a table. Although I have trouble believing Apple's monitors are unique in that regard.

Anyway, I haven't heard anything noteworthy about Apple's latest batch of flat panels. This means that they're not so bad that you notice immediately anyway. They may be great, long lasting screens, but they just haven't been around long enough to tell. I'll probably get a 17" one soon, and another larger one in a year or so. I'd already have one but I decided to get a new car instead. Saving up money takes so much longer when you have a car payment to make. At least my rent is cheap. :-)

    Talking cinema displays

    hi

i got a 22" cinema display just over a year ago, and last summer i bought the 23" hd cinema...

my father's working with a couple of new 17" screens.

we've not suffered any problems with the displays in terms of reliability / dead pixels etc.

the only thing that pissed me off was that whilst using my 23" over the summer in the UK it was invaded by thunder bugs which are IMPOSSIBLE to remove!

it's no longer an object of complete beauty...

    i still love it though!!!

    dual 2.5 ghz g5 pm / 6.5 gb ram / os x 10.4.6
    dual 1 ghz pm / 2 gb ram / os x 10.3.5
    apple 23" displays... plus bits'n'pieces...

    Smile Cinema Display

I used a 22" Cinema display for over 18 months connected to a G4 533 Dual. I am completely spoiled and am saving up to purchase one to use at home, replacing my 19" Sony.

I had absolutely no problems and it didn't get knocked over during our last major earthquake, which knocked my 17" PC monitor completely onto the floor.

I highly recommend one, especially with the new, lower pricing.
