| BBC program on Gates vs. Jobs The BBC just had a TV program (December 4th) on deciding who was the most powerful influence in computing, with a choice between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Unfortunately, I didn't see it, but I heard that Bill Gates "won." Steve Jobs is winning 78% to Gates' 22% in the poll.)  |

| I saw it, thought it was rubbish. Some nice stuff I didn't know though (Jobs was the ultimate drop-out... trekked round India for 6 months etc.  )They interview Woz... he's was good. They never really discussed the products at all, it was more to do with the two men as people. Yep, Gates won, but as you say pds, a bit of a no brainer indeed! |

| Heh... yep, that's something that "Pirates of Silicon Valley" and that BBC presentation didn't lead on to -- Steve Jobs started out, gosh, pardon the reference, like Jim Morrison did. He experimented with LSD and mind-altering drugs, researched Eastern religions and took "retreats" across far away lands. Bill gates got drunk and arrested. Go figure.

| Dammit - I missed the programme! I had a tape all ready to video it too, then I got the time wrong.... Still, it'll probably be repeated on BBC Three or Four in the not too far distant future.

| Steve is cooler - I want to see Gates get up in front of a bunch of people at a keynote and not looks like a giant idiot.

It was quite interesting, altho a little funny. Steve was portrayed as quite an honest guy - a Hero. However Bill seemed to be portrayed as a monopolist, and quite the opposite of Steve. Coincidence? To a degree, I can see why they picked Bill, but by the same token, the term 'power' means different things, to different People. It was nice to see the BBC acknowledge Steve as the true innovator, who can really question that? (besides Paul Thurrot  ?)
