... which means new machines in a higher frequency, I think. But there's more to it. Higher rated PowerMac G5s are important to lure people into the Mac realm, but there should also be decent lower-end machines most of them can actually buy. This means not only attractive middle and low end PowerMac G5s, but also iMacs and eMacs with G5 processors running at a mildly slower speed than the PowerMacs (and single processor, of course).

Ripcord: You're right, the PowerBooks are a problem, too, but they've got their own thread(s). This is about the G5s...

They really should have released an intermediate update before the 3GHz. Maybe they are going for the big shock value of going from 2GHz to 3GHz, but it's really quite unrealistic to expect people to want to buy something that old when they have the ability to be at 2.8GHz or more right now.

Let's not create rumours here... IBM has a 2.5 GHz chip that is going to ship about now. 2.8 GHz is future-talk.

soulseek is on a distinguished road
i think an iMac G5 and a Powerbook G5 should be introduced as fast as possible these will probably be a big hit.
its funny though, every1 is talkin about updated Powermacs and G5 powerbooks, but a G5 iMac is hardly mentioned in sites/forums !!!

G5 iMacs should come out around the same time as G5 Powerbooks as long as there is enough supply for the CPUs.
