Question iMac ram - technical specs

OK, so its not strictly OSX-related (though my need for ram is ), but I'm used to asking this sort of things here...
Anyone knows the technical specs of the iMac ram (second generation, slot-loading)? Is it PC-compatible RAM? cause if it is, I'm buying it at the university shop, will be much cheaper...
Oh, and do other macs use the same ram? Like the G3/G4?

TIA,

Kinniken
