When I got home, I connected it to my iMac via iPhoto, copied all my new photos and deleted them from the iPad.  Shortly after that, I noticed that my AppleTV was no longer running a slideshow of my photos when it was idle.<br />

The first one I bought just coughed and died about one year after I got it and all I was told was that I could buy a new one for £49.00 instead of the full price.<br />

I got the new one and it was fine until about a week before it was one year old and suddenly it would just suddenly say that home sharing was not turned on or that iTunes was not on on my computer and so we could watch nothing. I&#039;d leave it alone for few hours and...<br />

Now, I&#039;ve tried videora and a few others including the rather cool looking Hamster, which is less than cool (itunes rejects each file you convert).<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I have an original AppleTV in the living room and I&#039;m considering getting a new AppleTV 3 for the bedroom. I&#039;ve converted a large portion of my DVD collection for the AppleTV with Handbrake using the AppleTV preset and they work fine.<br />

I notice that there are also presets for AppleTV 2 and AppleTV 3. Is it absolutely necessary to re-convert my previous files for AppleTV 3 or will they work as is? What do I gain if I re-convert them? What do I lose if I don&#039;t? And if I do re-convert them, will...<br />

I&#039;ve been playing with a power usage monitors and have discovered that the biggest user of power whilst on &quot;standby&quot; in my house is the apple TV @ 20watts. With electricity at approx 20p per KWh, that works out at £35 per year. (20x24x365/1000*0.2)<br />

I don&#039;t know what the &quot;standby&quot; power usage of the new apple TV is, but given that it has a 6 watt power supply (compared to the 48 watt supply in the original), it&#039;s going to be no more than 6...<br />

Then, go downstairs to my Apple TV (version 1) which has nothing on the hard drive and be able to browse the music, pictures and movies on the upstairs computer&#039;s iTunes library (and play them of course).<br />
