Hello,

I have received print error of "foomatic-rip has quit unexpectedly due to status 2" with a new 2.1 GHz iMac.

-SMC 2804WBPR-G 4-port wireless router with USB printer port

-hp photosmart 1215 printer

-Other unit is G3 iMac with identical printer settings (also wireless) prints fine

-both iMacs with Tiger 10.4.3

-queue name "lpt1" (small case)

-LPD (not IPP)

-IP address 192.168.2.1

-Have removed/reinstated printer using printer assitant several times

Well, I looked around. Didn't find much.

Have you looked in the CUPS error log located, I think, at

/var/log/cups/error_log

?

I have achieved partial success by selecting the Gimp-Print 5.0.0 beta2 Photosmart P1100 to work with the 1215. That was my default work-around on the old G3 using OS 10.3.9.

It will print documents, but I'm not sure how many features of the printer I'll be missing out on.

Still not sure what "status 2" means.

Maybe there is a way to get the 1215 driver from the G3 (which works) to the G5??
