InDesign wizards--HELP!!

is there a way when I select a text box to fill that box with white at about 50% transparency without affecting the transparency of the type? I know that I can just have a filled box below and use a tranparent text box, but Iheard that InDesign can do that, and if so i'd like to know how to 'properly' get things done rather than work-arounds. thanks.

You have to create a separate text box for the white 50% transparency and then place text on top of that. You could do that with a simple Paste In Place step.
