Inconsistent scroll wheel

Howdy - I use a Wacom Graphire pad, pen and cordless mouse (USB trackpad type thing) hooked up to iBook 12" running 10.3.9. Any suggestions why I get one scroll wheel speed in, say, Safari, and a r-e-a-l-l-y irritatingly slow one in Appleworks? Any fixes welcome. Cheers

The problem is that AppleWorks, being a poorly-ported OS 9 program, does not use the standard system-wide method of handling scroll wheels. Firefox is like this, too (except that its non-standard handling is at least close to the default standard).

I'm not aware of any way to fix these programs, though. :(

Arse. Oh well, thanks for the explanation. Will just have to continue with the rigorous programme of index finger pilates in order to develop the necessary high-speed scrolling.
