There was a fire at Apple last night. You can start to read about it at the AP News brief (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5ie34nz8uL0J8G8Oc_6EvoXm8Rb4gD92HAEG00). More articles are coming online now,

I guess the fire was a three alarm because the fireman had to sign NDAs before going into the building (this was a joke).

Must have been those G86 nVIDIA chipsets that overheated. :pOuch! I hope I'm not going to have to carry a fire extinguisher around with my MacBook Pro now...
(Mind you, if it does go... ever seen that episode of Fawlty Towers where Basil goes berserk with his car (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8vUFRkxie0)? :D)

Some have said the fire was in the R&D department, whilst others have said it was in the Information Systems & Technology department.
CBS (http://cbs5.com/video/) are currently showing a few videos relating to the fire.

Yeah, that was not the R&D building. A/C unit malfunctioned.

No injuries, just a lot of displaced employees.

I was thinking more of that episode where they have a fire in their kitchen, and Basil gets himself in the face with the extinguisher. "I mean, whats the point of having it, really? It sits there for years and years and when you actually need it, when you actually have a fire, it blows your head off!"

Hey, at least not the classical switching off the AC to save electricity in the server room... :) (that could have done it too)
