View Full Version : Have I killed my iTouch

I've done something very stupid with my brand new iTouch. When I was taking it out of its case, it fell out and hit the floor. I was sitting down so it was only a couple of feet. But now it's kind of screwed up.
The Apple logo has a white slash through it which I'm just sure was not like that before. The music still seems okay but I can no longer play any of my games. They just blink and go back to the main page.
Can you tell me what I need to do to get this fixed?

The first thing you try is to restore the iPod touch software. The slash in the Apple logo is quite normal, though. (Check the Apple logo in "About this Mac" in Mac OS X 10.5.x.)

Thank you fryke. I'm very new to the iTouch. Will I lose any data when I do that?

It will erase all data from your iPod, but since it's all on iTunes, a sync will bring it all back.

Restoring the iTouch brought it back to normal again. Next time, I'll hang on to it a bit tighter. Thank you so much for the help.

You can also do a hard reset by holding down the top and front buttons at the same time until it reboots. A hard reset shouldn't erase any data.

Thanks Bot, I'll file that one away just in case I ever need to do this again.
