i wanted to know if i could install the windows xp drivers on my MBP with a mac os x installation disks 1 and 2. or do i HAVE to have the mac os x leopard cd to install the drivers? if i dont have the leopard cd is there alternate solutions to install the drivers?

Which one did you use to install BootCamp? Use the disks that you used to install BootCamp to install the Windows drivers.

If those original installation disks are Tiger installation disks, then you'd need the Leopard installation disk.
