software updates

Hi, my name is evania and I am trying to download 10.5.7. I managed to download it but then the configuration took more then 24 hours so I turned off and then turned my laptop back again, hoping that the software would be updated but in vain. It all began with me trying to download itunes 8.2 because the new ipod that I have is compatable only with the new one. I am using 10.5 leopard at the moment. Please help me update my system and please help get my music back.
I have been trying to get this done for more then two weeks now, please help.

Are you downloading the Combo 10.5.7 updater or the 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 update? Are you in 10.4 or 10.5 before you try to install the 10.5.7 updater? You can only use the updater if you already have 10.5 installed (Leopard).
