air tunes problem

i have set up air tunes to play through my compact stereo system. it works for a few seconds then cuts out. it's almost like the signal is too strong so the stereo cuts it off to avoid being damaged. i'm using a simple stereo-to-RCA connector. is the mini-stereo-to-RCA connector in the $40 "airport express stereo connection kit" special in some way; and, if so, can i get an equivalent connector at radio shack?

What wireless are you using a, b, g or n?

g, i think. the computer is a several year old mini with an airport extreme card.

I don't think you understand. I meant what version of radio frequency are you using, a, b, g or n? I ask because G is not up to HD video, only n is.

i don't want to stream hd video, just play itunes music through my stereo speakers.

Well for good audio you must be using at least the wireless frequency g to hear good sound. Try connecting to the Airport Express and factory resetting it and then setting it back up. A lot of users have reported this help them with skipping music.
