I'm getting garbled graphics once osx gets to the login screen - see attachment pic.

the setup screen for mac os has little red squares all over it.

its a 2006 intel imac. 20"/2.16ghz/1gb/250gb

I've managed to strip it down to under the lcd and check all the cabling, all seems fine. same issue persists.

Any ideas as to whats wrong?

should also mention txt in verbose mode looks perfect, and the default booting screen and blue background just before login look fine too.

i'd still say it's the graphics card...

Most likely. And the remaining possibility would be RAM.
Any error in looped, extended hardware test?

tried different memory modules, same effect happens. graphics card looks to be built into the mainboard, so i guess thats the end of it then.

thanks for the replys anyway.
