Mac Pro (late-2006) and 1.5TB Hard Drives

I have a Mac Pro from late-2006. I'd like to put three 1.5TB drives in it (one for the OS and two raided together for Time Machine -- I'm doing this now with three 500GB drives).

I've heard that some motherboards cannot support drives up to that size (on computers manufactured by companies other than Apple). Will this be a problem for me with my Mac Pro?

Your computer will support drives of infinite size.

Well, technically it won't, but they don't manufacture a drive that is "too big" for your computer to utilize. You may be thinking back to the days of IDE and 48-bit LBA where some motherboards would not be able to utilize space on drives greater than 128GB.

This is a non-issue at this point with SATA. Get the largest hard drive you can, and it will be fully compatible.
