Is it possible to set a "default" wireless network on Snow Leopard, such that the airport card would connect to that network any time it was in range regardless of strength and any other metrics that go into the "automatic" choice?

In AirPort's Advanced pane of Network preferences, drag the preferred network to the top of the list.
