View Full Version : Dual DVI ports not working

I have a G5 PCI-E with 2 DVI ports. Up until this past week, I have been using an old tube type monitor and converting the signal with a DVI to VGA converter. We had a power short circuit at the house and now I cannot get a signal to the monitor. I also have a brand new ViewSonic 24" monitor, connected it up with a DVI-DVI cable and it doesn't work.

My question is: is a DVI card as easy as any card to replace?
Is a DVI port susceptible to electrical spikes that could make it useless?
I have tried 2 monitors and neither work now.

Thanks for any help with such a vague question.
Rick

Try both a PRAM reset and a PMU/SMU reset.

SMU reset:

You've been able to help before, ElDiabloConCaca.
I am out of ideas and will try this tonight.
Thanks!

Well, didn't work.
I'm taking the G5 in to Staples - they can't fix it and I wouldn't let them! - but told me that they could hook it up to their monitor with a DVI cable and know right there if it's the card or my monitor.
