Just got a Sony A350 and when I try plugging it in to upload photos to my MacBook I get an error message saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Any ideas?
Using Mac OS X (10.6.8), MacBook 1,1 2 GHz Intel Core Duo

jpeg or raw? On my new NEX-5, I believe I read that raw was unreadable. However, I might have read that xd card was unreadable. (I use jpeg & memory stick pro.) In either case, try switching to both.

Try removing the Memory Stick from the camera and using a card reader. For a while I found that this was the only way to download files from my Sony camera. Ten I discovered that Sony had issued a firmware upgrade for the camera that restored the connection functionality.
Also as SGilbert says, check if the output is set to RAW or jpeg.
What Mac app are you using to download the photos? iPhoto or Aperture? Are they up to date? RAW formats are being added fairly frequently by Apple. So your camera may not be on the list if the photo software is not the latest.

Just found this on the Apple site. Your camera settings may need changing on the USB connectivity. You camera model is not mentioned, but the article is several months old.

Yup, that was the issue, but exactly the opposite.

After posting (typical, right?) I finally figured out it was the USB connection setting on the cam...
Mass storage didn't work...had to go to PTP instead....
after that I was able to get them using Image Capture :)
Thanks for trying to help everyone!
