Hi,
The headphone jack on my 2008 MacBook recently stopped working. I have spent a lot of time searching the web for solutions but I haven't been able to find a situation similar to mine.
When I plug in headphones or external speakers I hear a repetitive clicking noise, my computer become very slow and the volume icon on the top of the screen is greyed out. iTunes won't even play when headphones are in but maybe thats because my computer slows down so much. The red light in the jack is NOT on so that is not the issue. And the computer recognizes that headphones are plugged in because in the sound settings the output is headphone port. I though this problem might be a hardware issue from an incomplete connection??? I would really like to fix this myself even if it requires taking apart my computer
