View Full Version : Monitoring access to the outside of a LAN. Is there a way?

Hi,

I've setup a little LAN with several Linux, Mac and Windows boxes. Some are connected through a wire, others wirelessly (using an Apple Airport Base station). All of them access the Internet through a router (a DLink DI604).

Is there a way to continuously monitor the access done by the various computers to the Internet? Each time a usage of Internet is done, I would like to know:
-the identification of the computer (Mac address if possible)
-the date/time of the access
-the volume of data exchanged during the communication
And it would be nice to have all this stored in log files that can then be queried.

I presume there are certainly tools existing under Unix but do not know which ones.

Thx & Regards,
-Olivier

I think this will help - but, I haven't used it. (MacSniffer)
