I just installed 512MB on my G4 iBook and tried playing UT 2004 demo but it ran like crap?

Because UT 2004 needs a 1 GHz G4, and the iBooks are only *just* enough. You don't have a excellent video card, and you also don't have a lot of RAM. Basically, your computer isn't really enough to run it properly.

I just have the demo right now and after adjusting with the sound glitch in the demo (check on other threads on it), it runs great. A G4 with 512 of ram should be enough, though you might want to tweak the settings and not have many other apps running at the same time.

They STILL didn't fix that sound bug from last year?

I think they did, but the demo was not updated. Some weeks ago there was an update for the full version

Bah, how stupid. Not that it makes a whole lot of difference to me; I still can't run things like that :(

I think 800MHz G4 is plenty and its 640MB RAM, Halo ran pretty well when I only had 128MB.

Yeah, but I think it would have some sort of check

UT 2004 demo runs damn good on my G4 iBook with 640MB of ram with the sound off and the resolution at 800x600. But for some reason all the sprites have weird redish tints to them. I'll post a picture at some point.

Ok never mind, i just tried switching color depth to 16 bit and then everything looked right, so I tried switching back to 32 and now its fine... about time, that was damn annoying.

Well, to be honest: the game doesn't really run smooth enough to seriously play it. Even on my tibook it is somehow not really smooth. Compared to my pc, there is still a huge difference (at least, when I compare the demos). I was actually pretty good at this game (actually Ut2003) and knew a lot of special moves, such as jump to certain walls in a special angle and strafe jump so you make some kind of superjump. However, such moves became slightly impossible on my tibook
