LaCie external DVD drive

I have an external LaCie DVD Firewire burner. I would like to put it in my G4 in place of my other drive to make it an internal. Can I take the case and put an ide hard drive in it and turn it into a firewire 2nd drive?

You should be able to, but finding a face to fit it may be tough.

I shouldn't have to change any settings, shoud I?

No, but make sure the jumpers on the DVD drive match the settings on the CD drive you're replacing. If the CD drive is set to "master," well, set the DVD drive to "master" or whatever the CD drive is set to.

Also, set the hard drive you plan to put in the FireWire enclosure to the same jumper settings as the DVD drive you removed.
