| Next school year I am going to be teaching a computer course for honoros middle-school students. The program is funded by Dell, what happens is Dell gives us (the school) like 25 bare-bones computers and a load of parts (ie; bigger hard drives, faster processors, better video cards, more ram, etc) and I have to teach the kids how to use the computer first .. then as the semester goes on I teach them how to upgrade the hardware on the computer. And at the end if they've passed, they get to take the computer home and keep it. It's a good program because these kids are under-priveledged. Too bad this wasn't through Apple. ![]()

| I am the owner from a Dell Optiplex. It is the only computer that can run BabbleFish a simple speechsoftware from me. The good news is that Macosx supports Java2.0 . |

| that sounds like a great program! it doesn't cost them anything? i doubt apple would anything like that ever... they don't like people messing with the hardware.

| sounds like a good deal scott. it is too bad this isn't coming from apple but then again i would want apple computers to remain in the educational system. I expect you are going to have lots of fun helping them learn to fix them will you be allowed to tell them the story of the evil giant who thought he could conquer mankind by looking thru the magic windows or is that going to be too scary for kids that age ![]()
