Back to Mac

I bought my 1st Mac in 1985, 1 year after they came out. I really loved it. I upgraded it as far is possible over the next few years, and continued using it for about 10 years. My work required me to use Windoze, so I had to get a Windoze computer.

It made me sick to have to constantly deal with freezes, sloppy interface, and continuous unload/reloading of software. And when the Net became ubiquitous, the assault by hackers and virii writers became absurd. Let's not even get into the frequent Blue Screens of Death.

A new job had me back on Macs which was wonderful. But I still couldn't afford to buy a decent one. Finally, I was able to buy a new 17" Powerbook G4. I couldn't be much happier. Except for a few niggles which I'm on the forums to find out.

I've been to the Darkside, now I'm back to Mac for good.

Its a good time to be a Mac user, too. Things are getting more and more rewarding for us Mac users every year, while the Windows crowd are getting more and more headaches and expenses.

I agree. We all rode out the times, when being a Mac user was like being tied to the whipping post. I feel the tide is turning, and more people are switching to Mac. It is interesting to read what brings people over, most are about security, others for the smooth interface, and other reasons.

I really do think that the Mac is gaining a load more recognition in the computer world. People actually know what it is now... I remember walking into Best Buy a couple years ago, only to find that not a single service rep knew what an eMac was.

People are also figuring out that the Mac is a good computer, and blasphemy against it is getting a lot less common. There's just not much to bitch about anymore... hehe...

I'm still tied to the 'post' in my online masters program-- they only 'support' Windoze machines. Theres no feasible way (short of using VPC) of getting around it this semester-- Microsuck Project is a requirement this time around.
Any time I make mention of Apple in terms of the computers or the business, I get 'whipped' by both the instructors and the classmates. Jerks.

delsoljb32, I believe it. As much as I like Apple as a company, and Mac as a product, I would not want them to be dominated. It bothers me when people are so blinded that they think M$ is the only computer tech company in existence.
When I was a graduate student at SUNY/Albany, I was a psychology major. I was in the computer club. At the onset of each semester, we run a series of crash courses for those entering freshmen, in the engineering related fields, on the in/out of the Mac. Basically, their High Schools did not have Macs, and SUNY used Macs in those academic areas. These students needed to get educated on how to use the Macs.
In the High School I used work, they are dominate Windows school. I suggested several times, to get a least a couple of eMacs, so the kids could at least get exposure to the platform, and not enter a college program without that basic knowledge. My plea went unheard!
No one place, educational institution should be dominated by one platform or the other. In my opinion.
