The events of that article took place over at MacRumors on February 13, 2006.

It wasn't that big a deal then and hasn't gotten any worse with age.

As to why it is being rehashed now... FUD and a slow news day. To date there has been more articles written about viruses on Macs than than Macs infected... by a factor of about 20!

The average PC user is more likely to get a virus/worm/trojan than to hear about viruses and the like in the news. The average Mac user is more likely to read a couple dozen articles about viruses and the like in the news without ever seeing a virus/worm/trojan on their Macs. In fact your chances of winning the lottery are almost as good as getting a virus currently.

Hope that puts this in perspective.
