3g

Has anyone else moved to a 3G mobile network yet? I just changed to 3 and I'm pretty dissapointed. I had to get an NEC e606 and while the video stuff is cool, it sucks. The GUI is a bit poor and the supposed Bluetooth support is heinous. Also 3 don't have their Internet access up properly yet – just some closed loop services which are fun but a bit lame considering the network should be able to do. Hmm. My Orange contract runs out this week, got a few days to change my mind and get back on 2G with a new Sony Ericsson.

What's Sprint etc like in the US, any better?

Oh the trials of being an early adopter...

I wouldn't bother with 3G for a long while yet. It is far from ready for market, except in Tokyo, and its hard to believe they are pushing the products already.

If it doesn't offer you any advantages, then I wouldn't bother spending all that money.

I agree with symphonix, though South Korea is right up there with Japan in going to 3G. But for the rest of us, I think 2.5G has plenty to offer. I have GPRS, MMS and streaming video capability with my phone. I can sync it to a Mac and watch QT'd movies as well, so I think it's more a matter of what you can do with your phone than the network's ultimate capability at this time.
