| My bet with my friend So I have a bet going with a friend of mine, as of a few days ago. He thinks that within five years Apple will not be making personal computers anymore. He thinks all their revenue is from the iPod and music and such. I think Apple will be making personal computers in five years. So there's the bet. If they still are, Chris buys me dinner and drinks at one of NYC's top restaurants. If they are not making them, dinner and drinks are on me. Last edited by hazmat; July 22nd, 2003 at 12:55 PM. |

| We can see it already...Apple is doing amazing things. Not only with the iPod and music and such, but currently: the largest, most affordable, server+rack out there. Some of the nicest quality, flatscreen, monitors. Software programs that all run well with eachother and provide a lot of people with what they need. And now: literally the fastest computer and the most affordable price. You can't really tell but if you think about it: the next five years our elevators will have Apple symbols on them and our coffee machines will come with an built-in iTunes player. In short: You get my vote. ![]()

| Microsoft would keep Apple in business. Why? Where else would they get their ideas from? ![]()

| Well I do think about Microsoft in this because I think Apple stopping making personal computers would give Microsoft a monopoly. Linux is not a viable alternative. I think Mac OS is it. |

| You gotta wait 5 years for Dinner??? ![]() And are you sure you two will still be friends after 5 years??? And if not, does he still have to buy you dinner? ![]() Man I'll be in shock if Apple stops making computers - I don't see that happening... Maybe the computers they make will no-longer be called computers but maybe some fancy new word, and the computers themselves won't be traditional computers that we know now.

| Yeah....Microsoft needs Apple as its R & D department... Apple's not going to stop making computers anytime soon. Though, how M$ manages to $%#&-up good ideas is beyond me.
