| MacOSX.com Hypnotism First you need a string (about the length of half your forearm) and a ring. Tie the ring onto the end of the string and set it aside. Now get a piece of plain white paper. On the paper draw a circle in the middle (doesn't have to be perfect or anything) and within the circle draw a huge set of crosshairs (+). Label the x axis line (left to right) "No" - label the y axis line (up to down) "Yes" - on the outside of the circle draw an arrow that goes clockwise (left to right) and label it "Don't know" - again on the outside draw an arrow that goes counter-clockwise (right to left) and label it "Can't say". Good. You're ready to begin. First you need to get your concentration setup to work with the layout. So pickup the string+ring and let it hang just above the center of the crosshairs. Rest your elbow and let the ring sit just above the center of the crosshairs (maybe an inch above?). Now repeat the words "Yes" and concentrate (don't force!) on the ring moving up and down. Next repeat the words "No" and concentrate (don't force!) on the ring moving left to right, or right to left. Next repeat the words "Don't know" and concentrate on the ring moving in a clockwise circle. Finally repeat the words "Can't Say" and have the ring move counter-clockwise. Now you're "in the phase". Simply ask yourself simple questions to start off. Examples include: "Is it sunny outside?" or "Am I happy with who I am?" and the such. Keep asking the question and concentrating on the question ONLY! The ring should begin to move towards an answer. Don't freak out. Keep asking questions. ---------- Sorry for the long post, but it's so creepy! Try it out and then post your results! Remember though: this calls for a very serious attitude. Don't be goofing around with your friends when attempting this. If you want me to explain what happens I will gladly, otherwise you can't pretend it's some mythical/spiritual concurence! ![]()

| I'm going to post my results seperatly so you all don't get too bored. ![]() Basically it worked the first time I tried it! I'd ask it simple questions like "am I a boy?" "is my shirt red?" and they all came out truthfully! I also noticed that the more I try it the "better" it works, and faster! This is way cool!

| It happened to me once when I attended a motivational seminar with my g/f. Freaked the heck out of me. It seems many therapists use this as a way to reinforce positive thinking rather than dwelling on the negative. The weirdest part was how you could make it move even more in a certain direction by saying either really good things or bad things to yourself. If it was a subconscious motor movement, I couldn't detect it. Not enough to get it swinging. And the first time, I was quite skeptical and it only moved a bit. I tried it again with an open mind and it really started to move. I read somewhere sometime that just as dogs can "smell" fear in a person, many animals are much more attuned to slight changes in electromagnetic fields (ever notice how a dog always knows when a big storm is coming?) and that's how they're more in tune with you. I know my dog can sense when I'm down or in a bad mood when I come home. If I'm in a good mood, she goes straight to the door so I can take her out, then she pauses for a pat and scratch behind the ears. But if I'm not in a good mood, she comes to me first, then goes to the door. I guess it could sound like drivel to some, but it is freakily true.

| It doesn't need to be a ring. Any small metal object with enough weight to move the string seems to work. Figure out which is the no side and which is the yes. Now start to put yourself down. Think negative thoughts or something you feel bad and responsible for. Now compliment yourself (but believe it) and see if it moves from the bad side, then starts to waver, then change direction to the positive side. That's what really freaked me out. And watching a video or seeing someone else do it doesn't convince you. You really do have to try it yourself.

| I'd rather just play with my Weegee board. And, I know I misspelled "Weegee".

![]() Geek: a board is the exact same situation, only a board has letters instead of directions. It all comes from the same place.
