Exploiting QuickTime flaws in 'Second Life'
Well to me they don't even state the version of QuickTime they are using.Mac Pro Dual 2.8 Quad (2nd gen), 14G Ram, Two DVD-RW Drives, OS X 10.8.3

While I don't think that Mac OS X is immune to vulnerabilities (Apple usually takes an eternity to patch anything, and that's regarding the ones we know about), it's pretty bad that the author didn't specify which versions of QuickTime were being used. Wasn't Shmoocon sometime late last year anyways? Pretty old for a blog post that was entered today. Then again, with C|Net anything is possible.
