The hal.dll error indicates that there is some trouble with the Partition Map for Windows. The only way i figured out is to merge the BootCamp Partition with the Standard Mac-Partition. Afterwards reinstall Windows and everything should be fine.
But to be honest, with 10.5.1 this way will not do you any good. Just to have Windows on my Machine up and running i had to reformat the whole harddrive and do a complete reinstall...

the hal.dll error is related to the external drive reference, you can edit this with a text editor... forget the link sorry, but I see what you're trying to do, get Fusion or Parallels instead... this will allow you to have 6 trillion partitions in nice organized packages.
