serial connection dropping under Parallels

I am running Windows XP professional through parallels. I have connected our telephone system operators console in thw windows software via a serial connector (I am using a USB to serial convertor cable). Initially it works however after a time the serial connection to the phone system / hardware drops.

I have tried disabling the power save / energy features in both MAC OSX and Windows

Any ideas ?

thanks

check on the serial device setup. perhaps something in hardware handshake? Too late/early at night/morning to write about what could be causing it to work, then fail. I'd think it if required handshake, and it was off, it'd stop or not work at all.
