Thumbs down Windows Partitioning External HDD

Ok, I want windows xp to be bootable, but, lets face it. Nobody, I mean nobody, wants to have windows xp on a HDD with Mac OS X. If the HDD fails because of windows, there is just no use for the HDD. I want to know how could I make a boot loader to boot up windows XP onto a external HDD.

It's possible that it might be a feature in Boot Camp either once it's released officially (the current version is still in beta), or subsequent releases of it. Maybe something you can send over to Apple's feedback page.

I didn't see a listing for Boot Camp (probably because it's still in beta), but since it's going to be part of Leopard you might want to try under Mac OS X.

Another solution might be rEFIt. I haven't tried it but it might be able to do more than Boot Camp can now.
