| I tried rebooting with the d key, to do a hardware test, but it found nothing wrong. The first time I installed winows it was with the ntfs format. I had forgotten to reduce the partition size, so I did a clean install with a reduced partition. On installing xp again i chose the FATS format, and then tried to install the mac drivers. I had a fatal error message on the ATI graphic, but my keyboard drivers installed fine. I quit the install of the drivers. I have done all the hardware checks I know, and have found nothing wrong. I have checked the website for ATI to see if there are any drivers avaliable for download but haven.t found anything. My copy of windows was bought a couple of weeks ago, it has SP2 on it. |

| I have seen the windows drivers not install properly a number of times. I've installed Windows XP, both home edition and professional, on the Intel Macs at least 30 times. I don't expect the drivers to install completely the first time. I install the drivers over the newly installed Windows, let the installer reboot Windows, and then install the same drivers a second time. This will often sort out any odd driver issues. There really isn't any more up-to-date graphics drivers, than those on your driver disk, if you are up-to-date with version 1.1.2 of the Boot Camp software. Some hard-core gamers might disagree with that opinion, but the boot camp drivers are good enough. Did you get your color problems sorted out?

| I did a zero of the hard drive and reinstalled osx I figured the color problem might resolve itself if a reinstalled the operating system again. I still have the color problem, although it may not be what I originally thought. I dedided to reinstall winxp to see if installing the mac drivers might do anything. Boot camp installed xp with no color problems at all. I installed the mac drivers and the ati, and keyboard errors appeared. I removed the cd, then tried reinstalling the drivers. The same error appeared, but after a restart everything is working as it should be. THe odd thing is that if i boot in winxp, my screen is perfect, but booting in osx, rather than having the blue backdrop with various shades of blue, it is milticolored, and nearly impossible to read. This is more weird than I had orginally thought. |

| what is the keyboard error that you mention on this last post? You have not said anything about that before. Boot to OS X, and check in your System Preferences/Universal Access pane. Make sure that the Enhance contrast control is set completely to the left (Normal). If that does not help the video problem - try creating a new user for this purpose, and log out, then log in as that new user. See if the colors are back to normal with that new user. If not - on a restart, do you see the colors as normal, then goes bad during the rest of the boot - or does the screen show the colors bad always? Seems to be a system software problem, but if you have Erased and installed from the restore DVD, and the colors go out without installing anything, then you should get the hardware fixed - it's covered under warranty - why mess with it any longer? Does anything show up when you boot to the Apple Hardware test (on your restore DVD - boot while holding the D ... )

| I didn't have the keyboard error the first time, it has just appeared with his install of xp. The enhance control is set to normal, and creating another user doesn't work either. Still have the screen problem. I tried connecting the second screen for osx, and the second screen is fine. I still had the screen connected to my laptop when I rebooted into xp, and my and my main screen went weird in xp too. Up to that point it was working perfectly in xp, but not in osx. Just trying to exhaust my options in case I am missing something simple. I did the hardware test holding the d key in startup, but it is telling me there is no trouble with the hardware. Think i will go back to apple and get them so look at it. Thanks for your help. |
