Trackpad issues in Windows

Just installed Win XP Pro using BootCamp vers 1.1.2. In Windows, the cursor will freeze up for a few second and then return to normal. No amount of updates on either OS or Windows seems to fix it. A potentially related issue is that upon start up or shutdown, the Windows 'music' will hang for about 30 seconds and then the Macbook will complete the task.
